On August 21st, Inglourious Basterds finally made it’s epic debut to theatre’s worldwide. For Taratino, Pitt, Roth and Kruger fans it was a much-anticipated event.. but for Laurent fans, it was thee movie premiere to see. Mélanie’s first American movie debut, directed by a legend, co-staring some of the biggest names in American cinema today. It’s hard not to get excited just reading about the people behind the film and even harder once you’ve viewed the trailer. So, as a webmiss of this site (and Mélanie being one of my absolute favorites right now) I was adamant on seeing the film as soon as possible.

This past friday I was able to head out to the theatre to watch the movie. A bit of me wasn’t sure if I would even enjoy the film as much as I enjoyed seeing Mélanie for the first time on the big screen. As the beginning credits rolled and Mélanie Laurents name appeared in yellow on the screen, I felt the swell of excitement in my chest… (be warned for spoilers following the link)

I want to welcome and thank Lindsey for all of her hard work lately on the site. I’ve been too busy with my personal life in order to really sit down and get caught up the way the site should. I’m excited for all of the new additions she’s adding to the site!

As I mentioned in previous updates – I was a lot busier than I expected and thus my time has been limited to get this site up to date. However, I had the last few days off for Easter holidays and so Ivonne and I decided to get some areas of the site up to date – as well as give the gallery a face lift.

In addition, I know I had been promising the batch of screencaptures from Mélanie’s somewhat recently release of “La Chambre des Morts” for awhile now – and now they’re finally in the gallery. I meant to post this much sooner but I’ve been fairly busy with school this week. The teaser trailer for Inglorious Bastards came out just this week. I don’t know about you, but I was a bit mixed on the trailer. However, I’m quite excited to see this film. We can only see a small bit of Mélanie in the trailer but I’m sure the full trailer will have more of her. Screencaps and our own video will be up in our media archives soon enough. But for now, enjoy the video before.

What a treat to find this stunning and breathtaking set of pictures from a very recent spread in “Very Elle”. Mélanie was interviewed and photographed for the December (I believe this is the right month, but feel free to correct me if I’m wrong) issue of the magazine. I was also lucky enough to grab the behind the scenes video which can be found in our video archive. You must check out these photos and video! They are, without a doubt, my favorite yet.

Thanks to my dear friend Maria, I was able to add the remaining 2008 photos into the gallery. Mélanie wasn’t too active during the final few months of 2008, so there really wasn’t too much to add. I hope she makes an appearance soon enough in 2009, though, as January is almost over.

I feel like such a terrible webmisstress as of late, and I apologize up and down for the lack of updates here. It’s not that I haven’t wanted to, because trust me, I have. But, as of August, I went through something very, very traumatizing and I wasn’t able to resume to normalcy until recently. I’ve still followed Mélanie’s career from behind the scenes, and am still very much a huge fan of hers. I cannot make promises, and assure those remaining visitors that this site will be updated as frequently as before, but I will definitely try my best. I have started school again after 4 years of always promising I would, and my schedule is a tad tight these days. Please do feel free to keep me updated on anything YOU may know, though, so I can update the fansite to my best ability. Again, I am very sorry for not keeping up with this site, and I will do my best to get us back up to date.

Promised soon though, is screencaptures from La Chambre des Morts, which have been on my computer for quite some time now.

Just saw this bit of news on Perez Hilton, which regards the ucomping Inglorious Bastards.. or should I say “InglOURious BastERds”..

In a quirky move that only Quentin Tarantino could commit, the director has officially altered the name of his German WWWII flick from Inglorious Bastards to um, InglOURious BastERds, opting for the British spelling of “inglorious” and the…phonetic spelling of “bastard?”

A spokesperson for the film – starring Brad Pitt – said, “We are not entirely sure the reasons why it has been changed. We think it just has to be one of those Tarantino-esque things. All we do know is that is definitely the title from now on.”

I don’t really see the point in the name change, but oh well. What’s done is done, right?
