Hello, all! Thanks to Marine, we now have proper scans of two gorgeous spreads of Mélanie from recent months. The first is her feature in Madame Figaro in February, and the second is her feature in March’s Elle France. The pictures are lovely, but the interviews are also good reads, so be sure to check them out! As a sidenote, I apologize for the addition of tags to scans, but people reposting scans made for this site and claiming them as their own has been an ongoing problem. I know it isn’t fair to everyone else, but hopefully they’re unobtrusive enough. Also, the Nuit des Molières theater awards were held tonight, and unfortunately Mélanie did NOT win for her role in “Promenade de Santé.” However, she did attend the ceremony, so I’m hoping we’ll have pictures for you tomorrow! Keep checking back. |

Congratulations to Mélanie! She has been nominated for a Molière Award for Best Female Newcomer for her role in “Promenade de Santé” — the theater’s equivalent of her 2007 César nomination, basically! The ceremony will be held at the end of April. Best of luck to Mélanie and fingers crossed for a win! |

Mélanie is at the 2010 César Awards ceremony, as predicted! What I did not expect, however, was her to present — and for Best Actor, nonetheless. Many pictures to come over the next couple days! I’ll edit this as I begin uploading to the gallery, but also expect a clip of her presentation some time. Edit: Pictures from the ceremony are still trickling in slowly, so here are some screencaptures of her presentation in the meantime! The video is up at canalplus.fr — hopefully I’ll figure out how to embed, although she was only on screen a very short time. |

Sad news! The nominations for the 2010 César Awards have been announced and though Mélanie’s performance in “Le Concert” was well-received, she wasn’t nominated. “Le Concert” did, however, manage to grab several coveted nominations in non-acting categories. The film is nominated for Best Picture, Director, Original Screenplay, Music, Sound, and Editing. Mélanie was also unfortunately passed over at the BAFTAs, but she was always more of a long-shot at the English speaking ceremonies. It seems a safe bet to say that at the least we’ll see her at the Césars themselves at the end of February! |

The awards season race isn’t over for Mélanie yet — she’s nabbed not only a nomination but a win(!) for Best Actress according to the Austin Film Critics and Online Film Critics. Perhaps most exciting of all, she’s part of the pre-selection (or “long list”) of runners for Best Leading Actress for the BAFTAs! The official BAFTA nominations are announced on January 21st, so stay tuned. César nominations are announced on January 22nd, but Academy Award nominations aren’t announced until February 2nd. |

As many of you probably know by now, Diane Kruger was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. While undoubtedly some of it comes down to the Weinstein Company campaigning Mélanie for Lead Actress, Owen Gleiberman at the EW.com Movie Critics blog wrote an entry taking the stance that it should have been Mélanie nominated instead. It’s definitely worth a read! Do you have any thoughts of your own? As webmiss of this site I have an obvious bias, but Bridget was also my favorite character in “Basterds,” so personally I’m still very happy for Diane.

It might not be one of the big ones, but nevertheless, congratulations to Mélanie for nabbing “Best Actress” by the Austin Film Critics Association! “Inglourious Basterds” in general received 3 honors total. The French Lumière nominations were also announced and Mélanie was not among them for “Le Concert”, but both Oscar and César nominations are still upcoming.

“Inglourious Basterds” grabbed a few nominations for the Golden Globes at the press conference this morning! Mélanie did not receive one personally, but it seems a safe bet to say she’ll likely be at the ceremony. You can see the full list here but I’ve compiled the Basterds-specific noms below.
