“Les AdoptĂ©s” In Competition at a Film Festival!

Author: · Catagories: Awards, Les AdoptĂ©s, News & Rumors

Good news for MĂ©lanie! Her debut film as a director, “Les AdoptĂ©s”, will be shown in competition at the 16th Saint Jean de Luz Film Festival for Young Directors. The festival takes place between the 11th and 15th of October. Hopefully she might win something and we get a few photos of her at the festival!

Madame Figaro & Elle France Scans

Author: · Catagories: Awards, Gallery, Magazine Scans

Hello, all! Thanks to Marine, we now have proper scans of two gorgeous spreads of MĂ©lanie from recent months. The first is her feature in Madame Figaro in February, and the second is her feature in March’s Elle France. The pictures are lovely, but the interviews are also good reads, so be sure to check them out! As a sidenote, I apologize for the addition of tags to scans, but people reposting scans made for this site and claiming them as their own has been an ongoing problem. I know it isn’t fair to everyone else, but hopefully they’re unobtrusive enough.

Also, the Nuit des Molières theater awards were held tonight, and unfortunately MĂ©lanie did NOT win for her role in “Promenade de SantĂ©.” However, she did attend the ceremony, so I’m hoping we’ll have pictures for you tomorrow! Keep checking back.

Mélanie Nominated For Molière

Author: · Catagories: Awards, Promenade de SantĂ©

Congratulations to MĂ©lanie! She has been nominated for a Molière Award for Best Female Newcomer for her role in “Promenade de SantĂ©” — the theater’s equivalent of her 2007 CĂ©sar nomination, basically! The ceremony will be held at the end of April. Best of luck to MĂ©lanie and fingers crossed for a win!

Mélanie at the Césars

MĂ©lanie is at the 2010 CĂ©sar Awards ceremony, as predicted! What I did not expect, however, was her to present — and for Best Actor, nonetheless. Many pictures to come over the next couple days! I’ll edit this as I begin uploading to the gallery, but also expect a clip of her presentation some time.

Edit: Pictures from the ceremony are still trickling in slowly, so here are some screencaptures of her presentation in the meantime! The video is up at canalplus.fr — hopefully I’ll figure out how to embed, although she was only on screen a very short time.

2010 César Nominations

Author: · Catagories: Awards, Le Concert, News & Rumors

Sad news! The nominations for the 2010 CĂ©sar Awards have been announced and though MĂ©lanie’s performance in “Le Concert” was well-received, she wasn’t nominated. “Le Concert” did, however, manage to grab several coveted nominations in non-acting categories. The film is nominated for Best Picture, Director, Original Screenplay, Music, Sound, and Editing.

MĂ©lanie was also unfortunately passed over at the BAFTAs, but she was always more of a long-shot at the English speaking ceremonies. It seems a safe bet to say that at the least we’ll see her at the CĂ©sars themselves at the end of February!

Awards Season Updates

Author: · Catagories: Awards, News & Rumors

The awards season race isn’t over for MĂ©lanie yet — she’s nabbed not only a nomination but a win(!) for Best Actress according to the Austin Film Critics and Online Film Critics. Perhaps most exciting of all, she’s part of the pre-selection (or “long list”) of runners for Best Leading Actress for the BAFTAs! The official BAFTA nominations are announced on January 21st, so stay tuned. CĂ©sar nominations are announced on January 22nd, but Academy Award nominations aren’t announced until February 2nd.

EW.com on SAG Nominations

Author: · Catagories: Articles/Press, Awards

As many of you probably know by now, Diane Kruger was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. While undoubtedly some of it comes down to the Weinstein Company campaigning MĂ©lanie for Lead Actress, Owen Gleiberman at the EW.com Movie Critics blog wrote an entry taking the stance that it should have been MĂ©lanie nominated instead. It’s definitely worth a read! Do you have any thoughts of your own? As webmiss of this site I have an obvious bias, but Bridget was also my favorite character in “Basterds,” so personally I’m still very happy for Diane.

The SAG nominees: Why they chose the wrong Actress from ‘Inglourious Basterds’

I thought the Screen Actors Guild showed more or less impeccable taste in their nominations this year (though for Best Cast, how could they have possibly forsaken the sublimely acted Up in the Air…and picked the hot warblers of Nine instead?). So in drawing attention to one performer, in particular, whom they left out of the Best Supporting Actress category, I solemnly promise you that I won’t exploit the s-word. (I’ll at least say it out loud once: snub.) What I will note is that this particular omission is worth talking about, if only because I flat-out adore this performance, and I suspect that many others do too.
