The physical release isn’t until May 2nd still, but Mélanie’s debut album “En t’attendant” has been released digitally – finally! Considering she first went to record in May 2009 and the initial announcement she was going into music was even earlier, it feels like we’ve been waiting forever for this. I’ve added pictures to the gallery from her first live concert that took place April 20th in Cenon, France, as well as the album artwork. Take a look, and go out and buy the album!

There is also a making-of called “Les coulisses de l’album En t’attendant” available through her record label’s Youtube channel. Watch that below and see the captures in the gallery!

A second song by Mélanie has been released through a compiliation by magazine Les Inrocks. A few people have uploaded it to Youtube, and I’ve embedded one of the clips below! It’s simpler than “En t’attendant”, but I think I might prefer it personally.
Just a bit of clarification on Mélanie’s album — Damien Rice only wrote/produced 5 of the songs with her, while Joel Shearer produced the other 5, including “En t’attendant”. I was a bit confused why his name wasn’t being mentioned in the promotion for the single “En t’attendant” at all since he’s a much bigger name than Mélanie musically, so that explains it! The source is Damien Rice’s website.
Melanie Laurent releases her debut record en t’attendant on May 2 in France and Belgium through Atmospheriques / Pias. Damien has co-written and produced five songs for Melanie, while Joel Shearer has produced five other songs, the video for one of which you can see on YouTube.com and Melanie’s official website. Watch this space for further news on the release.
Hello, everyone! I know updates have been slow lately, but I’ll be putting up some late goodies over these next few days. First, a happy birthday to Mélanie! She turns 28 today. Second, the first single from Mélanie’s upcoming album has been released. The title is “En t’attendant” and there’s an accompanying music video, which you can see below, as well as screencaptures in the gallery.
You can download the mp3 of the song for free on http://www.melanielaurent-music.com by signing up for the mailing list! Mélanie can also be seen in concert on April 24th in Paris at the Printemps de Bourges. The album itself is to be released a week or so later, on May 2nd.

Mélanie also recently spoke briefly about the recording of her debut album to website Allocine.fr. Watch below and see captures in the gallery!

Mélanie has a brief cameo in a music video/short film for Martin Solveig’s new single “Initial S.H.E.” off album “Smash.” She’s only in it for around 30 seconds at 3:30, but the whole thing is worth watching — it’s very funny! I’ve also added captures to the gallery.

Now that “Le Concert” is in a limited US theatrical run, the English speaking press has taken some time to speak with Mélanie again. I plan on updating the press archive some time soon with new French and English press alike, but in the meantime, check out this new interview. What’s special about it? She mentions she’d like to tour the United States with her debut album! While the album itself isn’t even predicted before 2011, that’s still exciting news for American Mélanie fans — myself included!
Most of us know Mélanie Laurent as one of Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds, but Laurent had a lengthy resume even before then. But being that they were all foreign films, very few in the US experienced her work. With her new international star status that’s all changing and now we’ve got the chance to see her latest release, the French film The Concert.
