Congratulations to Mélanie! She has been nominated for a Molière Award for Best Female Newcomer for her role in “Promenade de Santé” — the theater’s equivalent of her 2007 César nomination, basically! The ceremony will be held at the end of April. Best of luck to Mélanie and fingers crossed for a win!

I’ve added some pictures to the gallery from the after party for the first night of Mélanie’s play “Promenade de Santé”, and tomorrow I’ll add a few pictures from the performance itself! And we have our first images of Mélanie actually performing in her play “Promenade de Santé”! I didn’t expect anything like this so soon, so it was a pleasant surprise. The play opens to the public tonight and the pictures are from one of the last dress rehearsals two days ago, February 7.

Elle.fr interviewed Mélanie and the author of her upcoming play, Nicolas Bedos, to talk about “Promenade de Santé”, how it came to be, and miscellany like Mélanie’s travelling and how she doesn’t read her critiques either negative or positive. It’s a short article but there’s a cute photo of the pair as well.

ELLE. Vous êtes amis depuis plusieurs années. Comment est née l’idée de cette pièce, l’envie de travailler ensemble ?
NICOLAS BEDOS. Dès notre première rencontre, je me suis immédiatement reconnu en Mélanie comme en une jumelle. Nous avons la même volonté de tout comprendre, cette tentation de frimer un peu dans tout, d’épater les parents… Et puis cette fille est une des personnes les plus drôles que je connaisse. Elle a en elle quelque chose de très outrancier, et le théâtre me semblait l’écrin parfait pour exploiter ce côté excessif.

Also coming up for Mélanie is her début on the stages of Paris. Beginning February 9th at La Pépinière Théâtre, her play “Promenade de Santé” runs all the way through the first of May. You can view dates and reserve seats here. Below is the poster for the play, which hopefully we’ll find in better quality eventually! Written by Nicolas Bedos, the plot is a romantic comedy about love found in the garden of a mental institution.
