After updating the gallery with missing events from 2009 a couple weeks ago, I’ve added over 500 photos to existing events. I’ll be updating the other years in the future, but in the meantime, enjoy these!

Mélanie Laurent, Gloriously “Inglourious”

Author: · Catagories: Articles/Press, Inglourious Basterds, Interviews

There is a new (to me!) interview/article about Mélanie during her Inglourious Basterds promotional tour up at the site popcornreel.com. You can find an excerpt below, and on a second page you can find a link to an audio clip of it.

“Do you mind if I smoke?”, Mélanie Laurent asks, cigarette in hand on a hot, sunny Sunday afternoon on the seventh floor suite of a plush hotel here. Miss Laurent, 26, has been promoting The Weinstein Company’s forthcoming movie release “Inglourious Basterds”, Quentin Tarantino’s new film which trains an hysterical and operatic eye on defeating Hitler and his Nazi regime. “Basterds” boasts a large ensemble cast, and Miss Laurent, a lively, loquacious and lithe being whose cheeriness may just rival the immense self-confidence she possesses, has a key role as Shosanna Dreyfus, a brave, bold and beautiful heroine facing significant obstacles during the two-and-a-half-hour epic comedy-drama.

I’ve added photos from a few different things to the gallery recently. In the Interviews & Specials section, there are screencaptures from a TV spot Mélanie did called “Rencontres du cinéma,” as well as captures from the promotional web interviews she did.

In photoshoots, there are photos from a press conference for “Inglourious Basterds” that Mélanie attended back in August.

Finally, in Magazine Scans, I’ve added some images from Mélanie in Crash magazine back in 2008 that I recently unearthed on my hard drive — it’s a really striking photoshoot of her, so be sure to check it out!

2009 Public Appearances

Hi, everyone! Since traffic is steady but Mélanie news has slowed down in a major way, I decided to update the gallery with a bunch of previously-unseen goodies from earlier in 2009. Now in the gallery is Mélanie at the Paris premiere of the film “Welcome”, the Fendi and Chanel parties from Paris Fashion Week, the Moët & Chandon party, and a party at the exclusive club Jimmy’z during Cannes. Enjoy!

Inglourious Basterds – Webmiss’ Personal Review

Author: · Catagories: Films, Inglourious Basterds

On August 21st, Inglourious Basterds finally made it’s epic debut to theatre’s worldwide. For Taratino, Pitt, Roth and Kruger fans it was a much-anticipated event.. but for Laurent fans, it was thee movie premiere to see. Mélanie’s first American movie debut, directed by a legend, co-staring some of the biggest names in American cinema today. It’s hard not to get excited just reading about the people behind the film and even harder once you’ve viewed the trailer. So, as a webmiss of this site (and Mélanie being one of my absolute favorites right now) I was adamant on seeing the film as soon as possible.

This past friday I was able to head out to the theatre to watch the movie. A bit of me wasn’t sure if I would even enjoy the film as much as I enjoyed seeing Mélanie for the first time on the big screen. As the beginning credits rolled and Mélanie Laurents name appeared in yellow on the screen, I felt the swell of excitement in my chest… (be warned for spoilers following the link)

NEW YORK — Most folks would get starstruck around Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

Not Mélanie Laurent, Pitt’s French co-star in the war flick Inglourious Basterds.

Being on the red carpet at the film’s premiere with the couple was “completely crazy,” concedes the slightly standoffish actress. “But you don’t feel like, ‘Oh my God.’ Everybody is crazy, hysterical, but it’s not real. You just have fun. They are so cool. They always say to me, ‘Hi, you look great.’ ”

100,000 Hits, Plus Interview

Author: · Catagories: Inglourious Basterds, Interviews, Website Updates

See image! Right now, it’s actually over 102,000, but traffic built up faster than I could log on and update!

Site news aside, Mélanie also participated in yet another interview while out and about promoting Inglourious Basterds, this time for Askmen.com. Interesting things to note: she states her next project is the theater, in a play called Promenade de Santé. I’m unsure at this time whether she’s directing or acting in the play, but Parisian fans of Mélanie may have a chance to see her in person.

Unless acquiring a taste for French cinema is one of your pastimes, you probably never heard of Melanie Laurent before Quentin Tarantino cast her as the lead in Inglourious Basterds. After seeing her performance, you’re going to want to learn French and, at the very least, acquire a taste for Melanie Laurent movies. After all, becoming a big American movie star isn’t one of her goals in life, and all of her upcoming projects are French.

Nashville “Inglourious Basterds” Premiere

Author: · Catagories: Appearances, Gallery, Inglourious Basterds

First of all, hello and welcome to anyone that might be visiting this site for the first time after discovering Mélanie for the first time in Inglourious Basterds! While not all sections of the site are currently up-to-date, we’re working on it, and in the meantime the 10,000+ photo gallery is continually updated. We hope you continue to visit the site in the future to stay current on everything Mélanie Laurent, our ever-rising French talent!

Secondly, Mélanie attended yet another United States premiere of Basterds, this time in Nashville, Tennessee, alongside Eli Roth, producer Laurence Bender, and (surprisingly) Al Gore. A few photos have been added to the gallery. Enjoy!
